As I awake this morning, I'm moved to near tears. The country I call my home has changed - for the better.

A day I never thought I would see, has happened. On this day, my faith is renewed as an American. My heart is full of hope for a better tomorrow. A barrier of inequity has been shattered. After years of shame, today I lift my head to once again say, I'm proud to be an American.

For the first time in eight years, I'm proud to be an American supporter again. We watched the coverage last night from up here in Canada and we, too, were moved to tears. Seventy percent of all Canadians wanted Obama to win. Also, 15% of Canadians said they would have forfeited their vote in the last Canadian election if they could have voted for Obama in the US. In a survey of 22 nations around the world, 19 of them wanted an Obama presidency. Not just the US but the entire world is happy today. Truly a historic and beautiful day.
