Baking For A Birthday

My friend (and ex-boss) Mary Rita is celebrating her birthday. I was asked to make a small birthday cake for her. I think it turned out pretty well...

Her family is planning a little gathering for her during the late afternoon and they wanted small and tasty cupcakes for the guests.. I showed you the box full freshly baked yesterday.. and today they are all decorated! A simple swirl of frosting with a sugar flower on top. Nothing fancy. Happy Birthday, Mary Rita!

So cute! Did you make the little flowers? If so how!?!

The cake is just beautiful! I'll take one of each of those cupcakes, sir, and a cup of house blend with cream and sugar, please - in a jadeite mug. :-)

I cannot take credit for the flowers.. a friend of mine makes them out of gum paste. They are beautiful! My mission is to learn how to make them so I can make my own!

I'm still waiting for the frosting recipe! :)

Or is that a special trade secret! Beautiful - how could they not love them? You should start your own wedding cake business. First you need some promotional cards. Perhaps ones that pop up. :)
