An Odd Thing: Part II - I Give Up

I give up.

There comes a time on the message boards when you just have to realize your beating your head against the wall when it comes to some sort of logic or understanding. People just don't get it.. or they don't have the ability to look beyond their own nose. It's frustrating.. but I can't change the way someone acts (or reacts).

It's pretty sad actually that when someone offers an explanation it's met with total ignorance. I think sometimes people read the first word in a paragraph and the last word of a paragraph, since there certainly is selective reading!

I'll now stop trying to be the peace maker or the voice of reason on the message board. It's not worth the frustration. I, like others, will just do what I want to do.. post what I want to post. I'm just thankful I don't live my life with my head in the sand.

Kenn, you tried and that is the important thing - you can feel good about that. It's a shame that some can't choose selective reading in addition to selective listening - and realize that everyone has the right to post whatever they want to post - that's why it is a COMMUNITY.

Kenn you were very eloquent and wonderful in your comments. They don't get it and never will. They should rename the board Media, books, magazines, tv and radio. Maybe then all will be happy. We came together for the same reason in one place and have met some wonderful friends and some real wackos. We will just move past this whole thing :)

Kenn, you shouldn't feel at all despondent - your comments were enlightening and truthful. It's sad that others cannot see beyond their blinders. I must admit, that as a newcomer, I posted non-TV/Radio related topics with wild abandon. I did so with enthusiasm and excitement - an experience or found object I wanted to share with other like-minded souls, not knowing that there was such disdain for off-topic posts. It's a rather awkward place now, but there are "good things" that came from all of this. I'm thankful for your blog (and Claudine's as well) - they offer the "best" in Martha Stewart, in my opinion. And for Elaine's friendship as well. Yours and Claudine's blogs express a lifestyle that is a joy to partake of - where one learns and discovers new (and old) ways to enjoy life "everyday". I find this much more liberating and expressive, and a more rewarding outlet than being confined to discussing a one-hour television and/or radio show. Sigh.... So, I'm excited for my folks to come for dinner tonight - dessert is individual chocolate souffles - served in my new Macy's/MSC oven-to-table custard cups. :)

Dear Friends,
Thank you for your kind words and support. I do get frustrated at the ignorance of others. It's just part of my make up I guess. I have so little tolerance for it. I'll just let it be for now. You three in particular are such a joy to share all the 'good things' with. It's a wonderful reward to meet great people and share good times without the restraint of censorship.

We do want a full report on dinner Mr. Mike! Thanks again guys and gals! ---Kenn

Hey Kenn,

You've tried the voice of reason and apparently that doesn't work with some. I don't understand their problem. So many times I want to call out the ones who start the jabbing comments but I know it will not do any good. They make the comments knowing people will respond back and then they turn it around like they didn't start it. Go figure. I have appreciated your comments to them. By the way I love your blogs. You have such a way with words. Take care, Debbie

I stay away from message boards for the very reasons you mentioned. There is just a little too much snark out there for my taste.
